Marge Mount

"Mount's paintings invoke breathtaking images, utilizing the natural beauty of nature, while eulogizing the dignity and character of its inhabitants, bringing across the awe-inspiring vista and classical response to landscape."

Artist Statement

What goes around comes around. After a somewhat assiduous career of painting and teaching I have come "back home" to Marin County.  In 1965 I moved from the Pacific Northwest to start my professional art career as a student at the San Francisco Art Institute. While doing so I lived in Mill Valley. Four years later, with a Masters in oil painting from Stanford, I began my teaching career at San Rafael High School.  After eight years I moved to Sebastopol and taught in Sonoma County for the next twenty years. I painted grands scaled paintings of the Laguna de Santa Rose and other various local coastal scenes. A year ago this spring I returned to San Rafael and have brought my love of wild life and habitat full circle.
